CHURCH HALL IN TADWORTH
During 2011, there were two demonstration evenings which non-Members were welcome to attend, with an entry fee of £4. In these sessions which started at 8.00pm, leading professional artists demonstrated their particular styles and techniques. A similar programme of demonstration evenings is planned for 2012 for which the following are currently scheduled:
Demonstrations Evenings in 2012 (also at St John's Hall):
- 8th March Demonstration by Ann Wilkinson who will show us how she creates her highly unusual Pastel Paintings.
- 13th September Demonstration by Bill Newton who will create a landscape in watercolour
CHARITABLE PURPOSES
During each Exhibition, visitors are invited to vote for the painting they would nominate as 'Best in Show' and a charity raffle is organised, its prize being a painting specially chosen from among those on display. Among the charities which have benefited from this in recent years are the Carshalton-based Medical Engineering Resource Centre (MERU), and the Queen Elizabeth's Foundation Brain Injury Centre in Banstead; and separate donations have been made by the Group to The Children's Trust at Tadworth Court and the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in Sutton. For the May and November 2010 exhibitions the 'Help for Heroes' charity, based at Headley Court, was chosen, and this enabled the splendid sum of £1,677 to be donated.
PAINTING WEEKENDS
In each year, the group organises painting weekends for members in areas of scenic potential in the South East Region. Recent locations have included Cambridge and Christchurch Dorset.
